Our Staff
Dr. Liz O’Rourke
I am a 1993 graduate of CSU’s Veterinary Medical
Program. I worked in several clinics in Colorado and Oregon and decided
my true passion is emergency and critical care medicine. I have been
primarily doing this type of practice for the last 13 years. I am a
member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society since
1999. I am also a member of the American Veterinary Medical
Association, the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, the Denver
Area Veterinary Medical Society, the American Association of Feline
Practitioners, MENSA, and a charter member of the Peak to Peak Rotary
Club.
I am fortunate to have a loving family to support
me in my long and unusual hours in emergency care! My husband, Donel
Conley, and I have been together for 20 years. We have two beautiful
daughters, Erin(15) and Kerry(13), who are busy with school and
activities and helping out here at Animal Urgent Care. They have been
helping with animals since birth! They were my companions for many years
of house call practice, and still spend hours cleaning, answering phones, and petting some of our sick patients.
We have had many pets over the years including
horses, goats, hamsters, dogs, cats, and even a pigeon that we rescued
from DIA’s parking garage! Right now we are down to 2 dogs (Clara and
Sunshine) and 5 cats (Ater, Cougars, Harry, Keifer, and Bobo). All of
the cats have been rescued from various places.
Dr. Lisa Carroll
Dr. Carroll grew up on a small farm in Kansas
where she was involved in the daily operations from a very young age.
She became interested in veterinary medicine at age eight when her
mother took a position with their local veterinarian. She
completed her Bachelor's degree in biology and received her DVM from
Kansas State University in 1994. She joined a mixed animal
practice in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she worked for four years.
At that hospital, she had the opportunity to practice many facets of
medicine; she managed the health program of a large herd of bison,
created a wellness plan for a captive wolf breeding project, and
saw both equine and small animal emergencies.
Dr. Carroll later moved to the Boulder area where
she has practiced emergency medicine for the last ten years. She
lives with her husband and three daughters in Longmont, and is active in
a variety of local organizations. She has been working at Animal
Urgent care since April 2008, and is hoping to pursue a residency
leading to a specialty in emergency and critical care medicine.
Julie Logan
I have been a technician for 9
years. I graduated from Bel-Rea in 1999. I began my career in emergency
medicine were I met Dr. O’Rourke, who helped train me in emergency and
critical care. When the opportunity came to work with Dr. O’Rourke
again, I could not pass it up. I have 4 dogs. Star, a 9 year-old German
shepherd; Angelo, a 8 year-old Italian greyhound; Reese, a 4 year-old
Toy poodle; and Poe, a 4 year-old Poodle-Jack russell mix. My 3 cats,
Benjamin, Cissi, and Bud pretty much run the house. I have 3 rats: 2
hairless, Napoleon and Peach; and my not so hairless dumbo, named
LaFawnduh (LaLa for short). I look forward to helping your pets in the
future.
Rebecca McMurry
I have been an emergency technician for 3 years. My
education includes a Bachelor of Science in animal sciences from
Colorado State University, and an Associate in Applied Science from Bel-Rea
Institute of Technology. I live in Lakewood with my best friend
“Frisco” the adorable Shepherd/Husky mix. I spend my free time helping
with my parents cattle ranch in Billings, Mt. I joined Animal Urgent
Care as a relief technician in October 2007.
Katie Seeley
Katie is a Denver native who graduated from Bel-Rea
Institute with an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology.
She received her degree in March of 2006, and has been board certified
since June of 2007. Katie has always had a passion for emergency
and critical medicine, and has enjoyed working at Animal Urgent Care.
She shares her home and her heart with two furry
cats, Sydney and Ray, that "brighten every day" for her. Katie
enjoys spending time with family and friends, and spending as much time
outside as possible!
Kate Rittler
I have been a tech. assistant here at AUC since
August, 2008. I graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park,
Florida in 2006 with a Music degree, and started teaching elementary
music. Though I loved it, it made me feel pretty old! When
my boyfriend landed a graduate assistantship at CU in Boulder, and we
decided to move to Colorado, I thought I might try out a career change.
Eventually, I would love to go to veterinary school, so all of this
experience is going to be priceless. Until then, I am taking in as
much as I possibly can---luckily, Dr. Liz and Dr. Carroll are great
teachers. I live in Superior with my boyfriend, Josh, my beautiful
pound puppy, Skillet, and my gigantic cat, Davis.
