Our Doctors
Dr. Liz O'Rourke
is the owner of Animal Urgent Care, and the doctor you are most likely to see if you bring your pet in after hours.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from
Colorado State University in 1993. Dr. O'Rourke has been practicing emergency medicine for the majority of her
career, and loves the excitement that every day brings. She has a gift for attending not only the needs of her
patients, but also easing the concerns of their owners. The caring atmosphere experienced by clients at Animal
Urgent Care is the product of Dr. Liz's big heart. She has cultivated a small team of employees that feel like
a family and work together to achieve the best results for your pet. Dr. O'Rourke lives in Gilpin County with
her two teenage daughters, Erin and Kerry, and her husband, Don. She has two moderately well-behaved labs, Clara
and Sunshine, and a handful of charismatic kitties.
Dr. Lisa Carroll
completed her Bachelors degree in biology and her DVM from Kansas State University in 1994. She joined a mixed
animal practice in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she worked for four years. She later moved to the Boulder area
where she has practiced emergency medicine for the last twelve years. She lives with her husband and three
daughters in Longmont and is active in a variety of local organizations. She has been working at Animal Urgent
Care since April 2008.
Dr. Rebecca Anderson
is a 2001 Graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She moved to Arvada in 2005 after
practicing mixed animal medicine in Nebraska for four years. When not helping animals at Animal Urgent Care,
Dr. Anderson likes to go on hikes with her husband, Ken, and their Mensa-qualified Boston terrier, Newton. She
also enjoys training their two horses, Pete and Caine.
Our Technicians
Julie Logan, CVT,
is our head technician at Animal Urgent Care. She has been here with Dr. Liz since the opening of the clinic, and
plays a vital role in all of the details behind the scenes. Julie lives in Westminster with her mom, Maggie, and
her four adorable dogs, Angelo, Jules, Reese, and Po.
Kate Rittler
is the Office Manager at Animal Urgent Care. She currently attends CU in Boulder as a pre-vet student, and
will be applying to vet school shortly. Kate grew up in Philadelphia, and moved to Florida to earn an
undergraduate degree in Music. As Office Manager, she has taken over a lot of the responsibilities that
Dr. O'Rourke was managing on her own. She has been working at AUC for about two years, and feels very fortunate
to have accrued so much hands-on experience. Kate lives in Superior, CO with her boyfriend, Josh, and their
lovable boxer/lab mix, Skillet. She enjoys cooking, hiking, baseball (Go Phils!), and having people visit from
the East Coast.
Becky McMurry, CVT,
has been doing relief work for Animal Urgent Care for three years. She graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree
in Animal Science and Agricultural Extension Education from Colorado State University (Go Rams!). Becky then
earned her CVT license from Bel-Rea in 2005, and has been working as a technician since she graduated. She has
a passion for emergency and critical care medicine, and usually gravitates toward that area as a relief technician. Becky's free time is spent with her adorable shepherd/husky mix, Frisco, and Stuart, her three-legged Siamese kitty. She also loves to spend time on her family’s ranch in Montana.
Rachel Wanty
is a student at Washington State University, and enjoys coming back to work as an assistant at Animal Urgent Care
during her breaks from school. Rachel is studying Neuroscience and Spanish at WSU, and has already been accepted
to veterinary school there in two years. She also enjoys horseback riding in her spare time, and gives lessons
with the help of her horse, Mocha. Rachel's dad makes the BEST homemade pizza on the planet; it is so good, it
needs to be part of her bio.
Erin Conley
is one of the daughters of Dr. O'Rourke. She is a junior in high school at Ralston Valley, and enjoys helping
in any way she can around the clinic when she is off of school. Erin is a huge fan of Lost, the color blue,
and playing flute. We are fairly certain she will become a famous writer in the next ten years. Erin recently
earned her driver's license, and the rest of us have subsequently upgraded our car insurance.
Kerry Conley
is the younger of Dr. O'Rourke's daughters. She is 15 years-old, and enjoys helping with everything around
the clinic, especially cleaning. She is a cleaner at heart. In all seriousness, Kerry is very helpful when
we get busy, always there to help hold pets, answer phones, and greet incoming patients and clients. Most
of our beautiful landscaping is maintained by her! She loves meeting new people, but also hopes she never
has to see you here at AUC. Kerry loves to spend time with her friends, bake delicious chocolate chip cookies,
and sing with her school chorus.
